FOR TEACHERS ONLY School Visits FAQ

THIS PAGE IS FOR TEACHERS AND MEDIA SPECIALIST TO STAY IN KNOW AB0UT UPCOMING AUTHOR EVENTS AT BRAVE!

Hello Teachers + Media Specialists! + Brave Schools!

We’re so excited you’re here!

Brave + Kind is a thoughtfully curated little neighborhood  book (and web) shop that boasts an intentionally diverse and inclusive selection of Kids and YA  books. And a few grown up books to help us all be more curious and be better humans.

We value the work you do for your students and the love of reading you work to instill in all kids. And we are excited to bring a diverse group of authors to Atlanta area schools as we partner with to share and grow a love of  stories.

WHAT ARE SCHOOL VISITS?

Throughout the Fall and Spring we have opportunities to have touring and local authors visit schools in our community. They're able to do presentations, workshops, talks or Q&A's with classes.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

It’s easy! Let us know your interest by signing up HERE.  We'll reach out with possible dates and authors that would be a good fit for your school. Alternatively, if you're interested in any of our local authors listed below, please don't hesitate to reach out to us to coordinate a visit.

Is there an author fee?

Some authors charge to travel and visit schools but by working with us, your local independent bookstore, not only are we able to help secure an author for your class but we can do so with no fees. HOWEVER, to support the author and bookstore, there's a minimum 25 book buy per visit.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

For most, nothing at all except a commitment to buy some books to support the authors. Sending authors anywhere costs the publishers money and they can only keep sending authors with the support of readers, schools and libraries. Each author is different in the minimum requirement and we also partner with nonprofits to help minimize the cost in some instances.

We hope kids can enjoy these books in their libraries in school and at home for years to come.

HOW DOES A SCHOOL VISIT WORK?

Once you’ve been selected to host an author we’ll coordinate details directly with you on where, what time and how to distribute the books. We will provide a link to share with your school community to pre order the book from the website so the books will be in hand the day of the event. The authors will come with a Brave + Kind bookseller, give a presentation to the kids and then do a book signing or have books pre-signed so we don't interrupt the school day (too much).

HOW TO SIGN UP?

Click here  to fill out form. We’ll get in touch quickly about current and future opportunities to host authors at your schools and classrooms. Or email Vania directly at events[at]braveandkindbookshop.com

We look forward to working with you and bringing awesome authors to your brilliant and brave kiddos!
